I have to say that even though I knew Hugh was a decent musician, the thought of him singing with an American accent is a little testing seeing as some of his heroes from what I have heard, are poor, black, downtrodden, exploited musicians who sang just in order that they could scrape a living by pouring out tales of their hardships - I can see how Hugh identifies with them. My honest initial reaction when I saw clips of this stuff was just to laugh. as it looks like a sketch from A Bit of Fry and Laurie. But I also think the same when I see him in House, speaking with an American accent. What muddies the waters further (now there's a blues-based analogy!)is that there is a Fry & Laurie sketch on YouTube where he does a blues number - to me it's much the same just with silly lyrics.
